In 2024, I published Patient 12A — a raw, poetic and unflinching memoir that explores sacredness of rage, masculinity, identity and the maddening beauty of becoming human in South Africa.
It isn’t a story about recovery. It’s a story about survival, language, and what happens when a mind decides to break into a freestyle.
Part literary work, part reckoning, Patient 12A became a cultural spark: opening up new conversations about mental health, Black identity, and what it means to stay alive when the world keeps trying to script your story for you.
